Sweden:
Drop Coffee Roasters

See that girl. Watch that scene.

                       ~Abba, “Dancing Queen”

Now that the obligatory Abba reference is out of the way, we can jump in to the business of waxing poetic about Sweden. Beyond literally perfecting pop-music, Swedish folks are responsible for creating the innovative, stylish, minimalist, flat-packed furniture we’re all obsessed with. Even more impressively, they’ve built a society that is arguably as close to achieving gender-equality as any other, where 85% of men take parental leave, and environmental consciousness runs deep.

The Swedes’ also revere the art of the coffee break, or Fika. It’s mythical. Per capita, their coffee consumption rivals that of just about any other country on planet earth. At the center of Sweden’s coffee culture is the fantastic Joanna Alm and Drop Coffee.

Joanna started as a barista at Drop and eventually became an owner. It goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway: That’s badass. She sources exceptional green beans, wins roasting competitions, personally visits the places she sources coffee from, and she does it all with a flawless manicure. Style is possibly Sweden’s longest held tradition, as showcased by Drop’s incredible packaging.

ModRec Series 05 features your fika from Drop Coffee in Stockholm, Sweden.
