Have you ever had someone try and tell you something inspiring, like "follow your dreams, and everything will work out if you do what you love"? Or, "chase the impossible, work hard and sacrifice and it will happen for you"?
If you were born, oh, in the late 70’s and onwards chances are you definitely have. What’s with our collective enchantment with some future concept of “the dream”?
We can spend years of our lives in this pursuit, only to scrape our way to some sort of average, hardly recognizable as “the dream”. Or worse yet, we can achieve everything we so wildly desired, only to find out it’s painfully lonely at the top. Meanwhile, as is so often the case, the dream is right now in the present. Losing yourself wholly and deeply in moments is living the dream, and it’s wildly nourishing.
